Reno-Tahoe Home to Newest Airline in the US: aha!

A new airline will soon launch from Reno-Tahoe International Airport to cities across the western United States. aha! announced plans to launch eight nonstop routes from Reno starting October 24, 2021. This will be the third new airline launched in the United States this year following Avelo and Breeze.

Following in the footsteps of former Reno Air, another Reno-based carrier that served multiple western destinations, until it was purchased by American Airlines in 1999. In the same fashion, aha! will serve cities that currently do not have nonstop service to Reno-Tahoe, giving travelers access to convenient one-to-two-hour nonstop flight options.

Launching as a leisure brand, aha! “air-hotel-adventure” is actually a reboot of ExpressJet Airlines which served hundreds of destinations operating short-haul flights for carriers like Delta and United. The carrier plans to launch value-priced fares and nonstop flights on eight routes but expects it will expand to 20+ destinations in the coming months.

Each route will be served three times a week onboard a 50-seat Embraer 145 regional jet in a single class setting. The smaller aircraft provides aha! more flexibility when it comes to the destinations it serves.

“We are excited to announce aha! and its innovative new air service at RNO,” said Shaun Carey, Chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. “They are connecting Northern Nevada to new markets from across the west that will bring new visitors to our spectacular region.”
