Alaska Airlines launches new flights to Gunnison and Crested Butte, Colorado; Resumes seasonal flights to Steamboat Springs, Mammoth and Sun Valley

Powder hounds will be saying “I fly Alaska” this ski and snowboard season when they fly Alaska Airlines to the West’s top ski destinations – and enjoy steep discounts when they get there.

Alaska launches its new seasonal Los Angeles – Gunnison/Crested Butte, Colorado, flights on December 16, adding to the airline’s complement of ski destinations from Southern California that includes Mammoth, Sun Valley and Salt Lake City. Los Angeles to Gunnison / Crested Butte flights run on Wednesdays and Saturdays from December 16 to March 26, 2016. Ski enthusiasts can save money this year when they fly Alaska to up to 13 of the country’s top ski destinations.

  • With Alaska’s Fly 2, Get 1 for the Tax offer (restrictions apply), winter sports enthusiasts can make the season last longer with this popular program. Simply fly two roundtrips to a qualifying ski destination this winter, and get a discount code good for a third round-trip ticket to any of those destinations. You’ll just have to cover the taxes and fees starting from $21.
  • With “Fly Alaska, ski free,” travelers can ski free at 10 premiere resorts this season. Participating mountains include: Alyeska Resort, Big Sky Resort, Big White Ski Resort, Crested Butte Mountain Resort, Mammoth Mountain, Mt. Bachelor, RED Mountain Resort, Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Snowbasin Resort, Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows Resort, Steamboat Ski & Resort, Sun Valley Resort and Whitefish Mountain Resort. The Sun Valley and Gunnison flights will be operated by Alaska’s sister carrier Horizon Air, using a 76-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft. Customers flying on flights operated by Horizon can enjoy free soft drinks and Starbucks coffee, a la cart planeside baggage service, and complimentary Northwest wine and microbrews for passengers 21 years and older. The Steamboat Springs flights will be operated by SkyWest Airlines using 70-seat CRJ-700 regional jets.
