Photographer Nick Dunlap captured this shot while camping on the beach on the Olympic peninsula in Washington. Here’s the backstory from Nick’s words…
“We’d been camping on the Olympic peninsula and we were looking for a place to stay for our last night. We took our Jeep out onto the beach looking for a place to camp and after about 30 minutes of driving we came to a river that ran through the sand and obstructed our path. In hindsight what I consider a rather reckless move, we forded the river, and were nearly swept away. With our nerves shot, we stopped driving, made camp and built a fire. As we watched Orion march across the sky, we felt alive in a way that makes you feel invincible.”
