The Boeing 777 aircraft has brought many advances to airlines around the world. Everything from allowing air carriers to offer routes to destinations halfway around the world, to giving airlines a larger jet to carry more cargo. Ever since the aircraft debuted over 20 years ago, airlines have taken advantage of all aspects the aircraft provides, including a denser seating arrangement.
In the last few years, many airlines have reduced the overall width of seats in Coach and increased seating from 9-abreast to 10-abreast. While that may not seem like a lot, on a 10+ hour flight, it equals out to much more.
In July, Delta embarked on a full-fleet interior refresh of its 777 aircraft for long-distance routes such as Detroit to Beijing and Los Angeles to Sydney. The new interiors include Delta’s award-winning Delta One suits, the new Delta Premium Select cabin, and the widest seats of Delta’s international fleet as the carrier opted to keep the 9-abreast seating arrangement.
Highlights of the new 777 interior include:
- 296 seats total, including seating for 28 in award-winning Delta One suites, 48 in the popular Delta Premium Select cabin and 220 in Main Cabin
- 9-abreast seating in Main Cabin versus the industry norm of 10 across
- Seatback entertainment screens throughout with Delta Studio and thousands of hours of content — free of charge across all cabins
- Full-spectrum LED ambient lighting with customized lighting schemes depending on phase of flight

Delta One Suites
Designed with an emphasis on exceptional customer comfort and privacy, the award-winning Delta One suite offers each customer a private space accessed by a sliding door with thoughtfully designed personal stowage areas, an advanced in-flight entertainment system, and premium trim and finishes to create an unparalleled business class experience with a comfortable, residential feel.
Delta Premium Select
The Delta Premium Select cabin reinforces Delta’s commitment to offer customers a range of options, allowing customers to tailor travel to their specific needs by providing additional space (with adjustable head and footrests) and elevated service.
Main Cabin
Delta’s retrofitted 777s feature 18.5″ wide Main Cabin Seats — the widest of Delta’s international fleet. Each customer will also have personal power ports and complimentary premium entertainment on individual seatback screens.
The aircraft is equipped with Gogo Ku Wi-Fi connectivity and customers will have access to free mobile messaging while on board through iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
All eight of Delta’s 777-200ER and all 10 777-200LR aircraft will be retrofitted by the end of 2019.
