Starting today, the Amtrak San Joaquins will add a seventh daily round-trip train between the San Francisco Bay Area to Bakersfield through Stockton and Fresno.
This added frequency along the San Joaquins route through California’s Central Valley will make it even more convenient for passengers to travel throughout the state. With the addition of the newest frequency, Amtrak will now offer 14 daily trains along the route between Oakland, Sacramento, Stockton and Bakersfield. This is the first new frequency to Oakland and the Bay Area in over 20 years and first new frequency along the entire route in over 10 years.
Along with the additional daily round-trip train, Amtrak has adjusted other trains along the route to offer a more balanced schedule. Also, Amtrak has added additional Thruway bus service to compliment the new train service.
The new round-trip will offer a morning northbound (Bakersfield-Oakland) option and a mid-afternoon (Oakland-Bakersfield) southbound option. Find the new schedule here.
The San Joaquin route offers daily service between Oakland and Sacramento to Stockton, Fresno, Bakersfield and 12 other cities down the Central Valley. In addition to the San Joaquin train service, an extensive Thruway bus service provides connecting service to over 100 destinations in California and Nevada including Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Las Vegas and Reno.
