Looking to get around the northeast between Washington, DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia or New York City? Skip the highway and take advantage of extra trains that Amtrak is adding for holiday travelers. Amtrak is offering low fares and a special late-night train, number 1776, from Washington, DC in celebration of Independence Day.
Amtrak will operate a number of regularly scheduled and special late-night trains to provide Fourth of July revelers with easy and convenient travel to and from firework displays in Washington, New York City and a variety of points in between. Low fares may be available for passengers that book at least two weeks in advance.
Also, Amtrak is accepting reservations for train 1776 – a special train departing Washington’s Union Station at 11:05 p.m. on Friday, July 4tt en route to New York (arriving at 2:25 a.m.) with stops at New Carrollton, B.W.I. Thurgood Marshall Airport, Baltimore Penn Station, Aberdeen, Wilmington, Philadelphia 30th Street Station, Trenton, Metropark and Newark, N.J.
In addition to Train 1776, regularly scheduled Northeast Regional and Acela Express service will be available for passengers making their way home after fireworks displays or other Fourth of July activities. Additional information can be found on Amtrak.com.
