ZIPAIR Announces Inaugural Long-Haul Destination to Start in December

ZIPAIR Tokyo announced its much much-anticipated inaugural long-haul destination, Los Angeles, which the carrier will begin service on December 25, 2021. This new route is the second to the United States, with service to Honolulu. ZIPAIR also serves Bangkok, Singapore, and Seoul from its base of Tokyo Narita.

“Ever since the introduction of ZIPAIR, one of our key goals was to establish a flight across the Pacific and I could not be prouder to stand here today to announce the launch of our Los Angeles route. Our mission is to define a new standard in the air travel industry by offering a unique low-cost business model on long-haul international routes. ZIPAIR features a NEW BASIC travel experience by offering personalized services during the flight, which will essentially shorten the sense of time. We are eager to welcome travelers in the U.S. to personally experience this truly new concept in air travel,” said Shingo Nishida, President of ZIPAIR Tokyo.

ZIPAIR operates the highly efficient Boeing 787-8 aircraft on its international routes and will initially offer three flights per week to Los Angeles. Two classes of service will be provided on the aircraft with 290 available seats with 18 seats in ZIP Full-Flat and 272 seats in Standard.

As the name suggests, ZIP Full-Flat is the Business Class offering that features a 180-degree reclining seat and a spaciously designed area with privacy in mind. Standard Class is the Economy Class product that features ample seat pitch and width. In addition, when one reclines, the backrest and seat move simultaneously providing more space for passengers sitting behind each seat.

ZIPAIR is one of the few international airlines to provide a contactless inflight experience. A self-ordering payment system is accessible to order meals and goods through a personal smartphone or tablet. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for all classes of travel.

Flights are currently scheduled to depart Toyko Narita in the mid-afternoon with a same-day earlier morning arrival into Los Angeles. Flights will depart Los Angeles in the mid-morning with an afternoon arrival into Toyko the following afternoon. Flights will operate three days a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Arrivals into Toyko Narita are Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday.

ZIPAIR is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan Airlines that was established in 2018 and commenced flights in 2020. The carrier features a customizable travel experience based on a low-cost carrier business model for long-haul flights.
