Between Lorton, Virginia (just south of Washington, DC) and Sanford, Florida (near Orlando), the Amtrak Auto Train has offered a highway-free travel option where travelers can take their vehicles with them on the train. Travelers can skip driving the infamous I-95, and instead, take the train.
Now, through March 12, Amtrak is offering a limited-time fare sale for Florida-bound travelers from the Northeast with Coach fares starting at just $9.00 and First Class Sleeping accommodations starting at $109.00, plus the vehicle cost.
The Auto Train departs the DC-area each late afternoon and arrives in Florida the following more. Coach Class accommodations offer plenty of room to spread out and relax. Food is available for purchase in the Dining Car, and a complimentary breakfast is offered prior to arriving in Sanford.
There are two types of First Class Sleeping accommodations: A Roomette features comfortable seating, newly-upgraded bedding, pillows, towels, and linens, and a dedicated attendant. An upgrade to a Bedroom offers a trip with twice the space as a Roomette as well as other added amenities. First Class passengers can enjoy a complimentary dinner and continental breakfast onboard.
