Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Returns June 23

A common sight in southern Colorado is the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, and that sight returns to the rails starting June 23, 2020. The operation was paused at the beginning of the Covid-19 and has received approval to resume operations.

The railroad will offer modified services that include limiting the number of tickets sold per trip as well as implementing enhanced safety procedures to improve both guest and employee safety. The summer season starts June 23 and will operate through August 15, possibly longer, which is all dependent on health restrictions.

The Durango and Silverton will operate both diesel and steam trains departing from its Rockwood Depot to Cascade Canyon round-trip Tuesday through Saturday. At this time, and through at least August 15, trains will not operate through to Silverton.
