Amtrak Adds More Trains in the Pacific Northwest

Starting December 18, between Seattle and Portland, Oregon, Amtrak Cascades will add two daily round-trip trains bringing the total to 12 trains each day. The new schedule includes earlier and later options and better connections to Oregon trains.

The addition also marks the opening of the new Tacoma Dome Station in Freighthouse Square and the culmination of the multi-million dollar 20-project Cascades High-Speed Rail construction program. With the launch of the new schedule, travel times between Seattle and Portland will be reduced to three hours and twenty minutes which is comparable to the drive times. Find the new schedule here.

Amtrak Cascades offer both reserved Coach and Business Class accommodations along with a Bistro Car offering a variety of Pacific Northwest flavors. For more details, visit AmtrakCascades.com.

Update: On December 18, as the result of a derailment on the new portion of the route, the Amtrak Cascades are operating on a modified schedule through at least the beginning of January. View the temporary schedule here and for updates, visit AmtrakCascades.com.
