Amtrak Adds Summer Night Service to Midwest Hiawatha Route

Amtrak Hiawatha Service passengers can make more evening plans for dinner, a show, shopping, and sporting events on Saturday nights through the Labor Day weekend. Late night trips between Chicago and Milwaukee will be offered from May 21 through Sept. 3, 2016. The schedule shows the addition of Train 343, departing from Chicago at 11:10 p.m., and Train 344, departing from Milwaukee at 10:40 p.m.

Amtrak first added extra service on the weekends during the recent holiday season to give travelers and shoppers alike more time to enjoy Chicago.  With resounding success, the extra service returns this summer with the extra Saturday night service.  Additionally, kids ride free this summer on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the Hiawatha Service recently introduced trainside bicycle carriage.

Amtrak Hiawatha Service trains are jointly sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Illinois Department of Transportation.About 800,000 passengers rode in the last year, including intermediate stops at Glenview, Ill., and in Wisconsin at Sturtevant and Milwaukee Airport. Nationally, it is one of the top six Amtrak routes.
