Scion - Dupont Circle

Tucked away from the main drag of Dupont Circle is Scion Restaurant, a entertaining and welcoming place to sit down and enjoy a wonderful meal.  I stumbled upon Scion quite by accident as I was walking about Dupont Circle one evening with a friend.  We were looking for a place for dinner and saw Scion with it’s green colored paint and outdoor seating and thought it would be a great place to try.  Upon walking in the door, the service was prompt and the crowd had a warm and welcoming feeling to it. As Scion states on their website:

Scion Restaurant serves contemporary American cuisine that we like to call ‘sophisticated comfort food.’ We serve a wide variety of meat, seafood, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes. We also offer a great selection of cocktails, wines, and craft beers.

The menu was filled with a variety of appetizers and dishes that will please any palette. Additionally, the cocktail, wine and beer selection was varied enough to give someone a handful of choices to decide upon when making their meal selection.  Stop by for Happy Hour each weekday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.

For dinner, I went with the special of the day which was Madeira Chicken and my friend had the Rockfish Curry.  I started out with a dinner salad that was served with their house dressing vinaigrette.  My main course arrived and the presentation was quite nice.  The chicken was moist and served on top a bed of egg noodles and covered a tasty Madeira sauce and sauteed mushrooms.  While impressive, I passed on dessert as I was quite full from dinner.

Scion-Dupont Circle is easily accessible from DC’s Metro system as well.  The Dupont Circle location is two blocks west of the Dupont Circle stop on the Red Line.  Additionally, street parking is available.

Overall, Scion was a great place to slow down and relax after a day wandering around Washington, DC enjoying the sights of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

Update: Since I ate there, Scion has opened a second location in Silver Springs, Maryland.
