Amtrak Moves Forward to Modernize Washington, DC’s Union Station

Amtrak is advancing a near-term comprehensive renovation of Washington Union Station’s intercity and commuter rail concourse, which will add approximately 20,000 square feet of new passenger space – nearly doubling the concourse’s current capacity.

Design is underway to upgrade passenger amenities including new restrooms, boarding gates, seating and a ClubAcela lounge. Amtrak Adds Business Class to Crescent Service between New York and New Orleans

The Crescent (Trains 19 & 20) has long been known as one of the most historic routes on the national Amtrak network. Now, with an available upgrade to Business class, it is an even more comfortable way to travel from New York to New Orleans, via Washington; Atlanta; Birmingham, Ala., and Hattiesburg, Miss., effective April 1, 2016.

For a surcharge of $75 per person or less, passengers can enjoy bonus Amtrak Guest Rewards points and the following amenities:

Amtrak Adds Premium Business Class to More Long-Distance Routes

After a highly successful debut on the Coast Starlight, a route traveling between Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle, Amtrak has introduced premium Business Class seating on two more long-distance routes, the Auto Train and Cardinal. The Auto Train, an overnight, non-stop, bring-your-car-along route, between the Washington, DC area and Orlando area and the Cardinal between New York and Chicago via Indianapolis and Cincinnati now offer Business Class in addition to First Class Sleeping accommodations and reserved Coach Class.
