Amtrak Adds Glass-Topped “Great Dome” to Adirondack for Fall Foliage

Passengers aboard Amtrak’s world-famous Adirondack service can experience the splendor of Upstate New York’s fall foliage season in unique fashion when the historic “Great Dome” car returns for a six-week run September 29 through November 1, 2016.

Amtrak Announces New Trains for Service in Northeast

Over 10 million passengers traveled on Amtrak between Boston, New York City and Washington, DC last year, making the route the highest traveled route in the entire Amtrak system.  The second busiest route is in Southern California with over 2 million annual passengers.  Together, Amtrak’s Northeast Regional and premium Acela Express trains are operating at near capacity on a daily basis.

Amtrak “Winter Park Express” Train Returns

Weekend passenger train service from Denver Union Station to the slopes of Winter Park is back, with Amtrak, Winter Park Resort and Union Pacific Railroad having reached agreement to operate Winter Park Express trains from Jan. 7 through March 26, 2017.

The round-trips will run on Saturdays and Sundays, with an additional round-trip on Martin Luther King Day and Presidents Day. Amtrak Opens New Premium Lounge in Chicago

Amtrak has more than doubled the space and added many new amenities at Chicago Union Station for customers who are traveling in Sleeping cars or in Business class, as well as Select Plus and Select Executive Amtrak Guest Rewards members, with this morning’s opening of a new “Metropolitan Lounge.”

Located behind and above one of the two grand staircases off the Great Hall, the lounge has two entrances. The primary access is located inside the station between the Great Hall and the Concourse, with a red carpet exterior entrance near the taxi stand on the west side of Canal Street. [...]
