Amsterdam Light Festival Shines Brightly

This year’s event runs through January 21, 2018, giving you plenty of nights during which to experience its many delights. With more than 35 large scale installations dotted across Amsterdam city center, there are certainly plenty of delights to discover. Amsterdam will once again turn into a real-life fairy tale, sparkling and glowing with over 40 pieces of illuminated artwork from artists all over the world. The art, inspired by this year’s theme ‘Existential’ and created exclusively for the festival, so you can be sure that every work at this year’s festival will be as bewitching, jaw-dropping or heart-warming as the next.

The sculptures can be spotted all over Amsterdam city center for the duration of the festival, illuminating and transforming its familiar monuments in magical and surprising new ways. It’s possible to find your own way around, but in order to view the festival in its best possible light two recommended routes have been created – a boat route and a walking route. The Water Colors route explores the festival in typical Amsterdam fashion – from the water and to explore the festival on foot, don’t miss the Illuminade walking route.
